Please remember how very important it is to do your visiting teaching, visiting teaching was divinely ordained of God.  After you have it done please remember to call your supervisors (or Connie if you don’t have one).   Thank-you so much for being willing to give service and teach each other.

Sister Teddi Jones sent this message to us: I received a call from a Mr. Nissalke (President Barlow referred him to me) about ordering Bartlett pears.  The pears will be from Medford, Oregon.  They are $25 for a 40-pound box.  He needs the orders by August 1 and the pears will be here around the 15th of September.  This is quite a ways away, but I quess you can announce it now to inform your sisters, then remind them again in June and July.  You can have them contact me at 878-2491 if they are interested, and I will contact Mr. Nissalke.

Remember:

  Seek – through Scripture Study
  Ask – Prayer
Knock – by Obedience (Temple Work)

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are they which testify of me. (John 5:39).

“I am grateful for emphasis on reading the scriptures.  I hope that for you this will become something far more enjoyable than a duty; that, rather, it will become a love affair with the word of god.  I promise you that as you read, your minds will be enlightened and your spirits will be lifted.  At first it may seem tedious, but that will change into a wondrous experience with thoughts and words of things divine.” (Gordon B. Hinckley)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

If we look to man and the ways of the world, we will find turmoil and confusion.  If we will but turn to God, we will find peace for the restless soul. (Howard W. Hunter)

May 1 announcements

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Relief Society Announcements:

Happy Birthday:  May 1st: Leslie Bishop
Many of us are trying to save ourselves, holding the Atonement of Jesus Christ at arm’s distance and saying, “When I’ve done it, when I’ve perfected myself, when I’ve made myself worthy—then I’ll be worthy of the Atonement. Then I will allow him in.” We cannot do it. That’s like saying, “When I am well, I’ll take the medicine. I’ll be worthy of it then.” That’s not how it was designed to work.
In mortality, perfection comes to us only through the Atonement of Christ. We cannot achieve it ourselves. We must become one with the Lord, who is a perfect being. (Stephen E. Robinson)

Be sure to mark on your calendar Tues. May 3, 6:30 at the stake center.  We will be having a mother and daughter Luau.  It will be a lot of fun so make sure you plan to come with your daughters and granddaughters. Remember to bring a tuna can for each person coming for the dessert.

We will be calling the visiting teachers who have a change in their championship and who you visit. There aren’t a lot of changes. If you don’t get a call no changes are made. Those who had Barbara Bunting and Rolayne Nelson as supervisors please call Connie until we can get new ones.  As soon as the new ones are called we will be sending out slips to every one.

Thanks for all you do and the Compassionate Service you give to each other.
We Love Each of You.
